French Language Training is also offered to employees through the Public Service Commission. The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is the provider of the training. Classes are offered for a variety of language levels ranging from beginner to intermediate to advanced. Courses are free of charge to employees and their departments for classified and casual civil service, including employees of Health PEI. More information on eligibility can be found here.
The French Language Training Incentive Program aims to increase the number of employees participating in training and increase proficiency levels amongst bilingual employees. Monetary incentives are available for employees who complete courses.
Half day workshop sessions are available on a variety of topics such as writing, customer service, pronunciation and more.
French Language Assessments are available to employees who speak and read French. The assessment will provide you with a level of proficiency. Having more bilingual employees helps government build language capacity from within and offers more services to islanders in French.
