Background ~ What is Take Our Kids to Work Day?
Launched in 1994 by The Learning Partnership, Take Our Kids to Work Day is the most recognized career exploration event in Canada. Take Our Kids to Work Day is an experiential learning opportunity for Grade 9 students who traditionally spend the day at the workplace of a parent, relative, friend, or volunteer host. Through Take Our Kids to Work Day, students can witness the world of work firsthand, prompting early career planning and enabling students to make informed decisions about their future goals and endeavors.
By participating in Take Our Kids to Work Day, students can learn about various careers, industries, and sectors. In particular, it is an opportunity to show that the public service is stable and reliable, yet flexible and innovative. We promote workplaces where employees are inspired to make a positive impact and proud to shape the future of our Island community.
