'Public policy' and 'policy work' are terms we hear and use a lot. However, what they actually mean in theory and practice is not always clear. Having a firm understanding and consensus of what we mean when we say 'public policy' and 'policy work' is the first step in developing good public policy and strong policy capacity.
This workshop will provide participants with a theoretical and practical understanding of public policy and policy work in the context of PEI. A short group exercise will allow participants to develop knowledge about the micro, meso and macro characteristics of public policy in PEI. Moving beyond the traditional and rational approaches to public policy, it is hoped that the workshop will effectively problematize and challenge how we understand public policy.
