Program evaluation is the systematic gathering, analysis and reporting of data about a program to assist in decision-making about ways to improve the program and how best to use resources. In practice, this work spans a continuum, from more simple performance monitoring activities to comprehensive formal evaluation studies. This workshop explores that continuum and helps participants determine how to “right-size” evaluation activities based on context, purpose and decision requirements.
Objectives:
- Learn how to view evaluation as a continuum of approaches - from performance monitoring and program assessment through to formal evaluation.
- Build confidence in developing and implementing right-sized evaluation and performance monitoring activities.
- Learn how to use different evaluation-related activities for different decision needs and when each is appropriate.
Applications in the Workplace:
- Introduction to basic terms and concepts of program evaluation
- Identify major benefits and uses of program evaluation
- Understanding the relationship between planning, management and evaluation
- Review major models of evaluation
- Develop an understanding of evaluation frameworks
- Demonstrating impact of program(s)
