Overview
The goal of this course is to provide participants with a general understanding of and appreciation for the
field of program evaluation. By the end of the course, we expect that participants will have acquired
considerable knowledge in the field of program evaluation so that if they were tasked with performing a
program evaluation they would have all necessary tools and resources or if they were hiring a program
evaluator they would have sufficient knowledge to do so as an informed consumer. Participants will be made
aware of the importance of the methodological and ethical considerations made as part of a program
evaluation.


Learning Objectives
Participants will:
• Recognize program evaluation terms, concepts and processes;
• Know the program evaluation design process;
• Understand major approaches in designing, conducting, analyzing and reporting in program
evaluation;
• Identify characteristics, processes, and practices of competent evaluation consultants.
Applications in the Workplace
• Increased knowledge in the field of program evaluation
• Knowledge of how to conduct a program evaluation
• Ability to evaluate sound program evaluation plans and consultants
