Pink Shirt Day

On February 25, 2026, we invite everyone to join us in recognizing Pink Shirt Day, a national initiative promoting kindness, inclusion, and respect. Pink Shirt Day began in 2007 in Nova Scotia, when two students David Shepherd and Travis Price organized a movement after a classmate was bullied for wearing a pink shirt. They purchased and shared pink shirts with other students to show solidarity, sparking a nationwide anti bullying campaign that continues today.

This year’s theme, “Sprinkle Kindness,” encourages us to create positive change through simple acts of compassion and respect. Last year, in collaboration with PEI UPSE, the Government of PEI introduced the Respectful Workplace Policy, outlining our shared responsibility to maintain a work environment where all Civil Service employees are treated with dignity, fairness, and respect.

On February 26, 2026, we encourage all teams to review the policy together and discuss how it applies to your workplace.

How You Can Participate:
•    Wear something pink on February 25 to show your support.
•    Practice and model acts of kindness throughout the day by completing in the Pink Shirt Day 2026 activity
•    Use the Pink Shirt Day Teams backgrounds in your meetings throughout the week leading up to Pink Shirt Day.
•    Share photos, stories, or initiatives that highlight positivity and respect.
•    Engage in conversations about inclusion, belonging, and standing up for others.

Thank you for helping build a workplace where everyone feels safe, supported, and valued.
