Permissable Union Activity in the Workplace

As you may be aware, the Union of Public Sector Employees (UPSE) is currently in the midst of a presidential election.

The purpose of this memo is to provide direction to employees regarding permissible union activity in the workplace.

Campaign activity is not to occur during work hours. Employees shall refrain from active campaigning on behalf of their presidential nominee at the worksite during working hours. Employees may use their lunch time at the workplace to conduct union campaign business for the pending election and to represent their nominee's interests but the conversations must be respectful and must not disrupt the operations. All posting of campaign materials must be restricted to union bulletin boards and should also be respectful.

The Employer fully supports the democratic process and requests that the workplace rules be respected during this campaign.
