Overview of the PEI Child and Youth Advocate Act & the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate

The Office of the Child and Youth Advocate is a new office pursuant to the PEI Child and Youth Advocate Act proclaimed on July 15, 2020.  As an independent office of the PEI Legislative Assembly, the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate has a statutory mandate to promote and protect the human rights of all PEI children and youth.

This sessions consists of three primary components:
•    An overview of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child;
•    An overview of the PEI Child and Youth Advocate Act to include mandatory reporting provisions for all child and youth serious injuries or deaths; and,
•    An overview of the work of the Office of the Child and Youth Advocate.
