Did you know that Translation Services offers English to French translation for any items you may need including website information, applications, or promo materials? Translation Services provides it services via an online portal. If you would like an account to be able to submit translation requests, contact Translation Services at trans-action@gov.pe.ca. Before doing that though, you may want to check with your supervisor to see if a colleague has a portal login that is used for your division as some areas have a designated staff member that processes and prioritizes the translation requests for the division.
Our Translation Services team is part of the Acadian and Francophone Affairs Secretariat with the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action. The Secretariat oversees the French Language Services Act which outlines the services that must be provided in French. If you are curious to know what services are considered ‘designated’ bilingual, you can take a look on their website or in the General Regulations.
One of the (many) important aspects of the Act surrounds French correspondence to the public. If you receive written correspondence in French, the Act states that government employees are obligated to respond, in writing, in French. You can seek the help of any bilingual co-workers, your departmental French Language Services Coordinator (coordinators are listed here) or Translation Services if you receive correspondence in French.
