Overview
In this interactive workshop, you will build foundational knowledge for engaging in anti-racism change work. Through collaborative learning and self-reflection, you will learn how systems of oppression affect behaviour and communication in the workplace and interpersonal relationships.
Module 1
- Building strategies to effectively dismantle racism both personally and professionally.
- Develop awareness of how racism and systemic oppression have evolved in Canada and are perpetuated.
- Become conscious of individual biases and how microaggressions surface.
- Develop cross-culturally informed skills as allies.
- Overview of terminology related to racism, anti-Black racism, and other forms of oppression.
Module 2
- Strengthen core knowledge of racism and systemic oppression as grounding for engaging in anti-racism change work.
- Overview of how racism intersects with other forms of oppression.
- Develop cross culturally-informed skills as allies and bystanders.
- How racism and white supremacy show up in organizational culture and strategies to counteract it.
- Creating communities of care for Black, Indigenous, and racialized staff.
Applications in the Workplace
- Increased foundational knowledge for engaging in anti-racism change work, including strategies to effectively dismantle racism both personally and professionally.
- Strengthened knowledge of terminology related to racism, anti-Black racism, and other forms of oppression.
