2025 Premier’s Leadership Award for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Public Service

This award recognizes individuals, teams or departments who have demonstrated leadership in the promotion of equity, diversity and advancement of inclusive best practices in the workplace and in the community. It recognizes the value of creating bias-free, inclusive workplaces and the positive impact of advancing fairness and equity to build healthier workplaces and stronger communities.

I am pleased to announce that the 2025 Premier’s Leadership Award for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion goes to the PEI Analytical Laboratories Social Committee, led by Scott Brown and Stephanie Mercer!

This recognition celebrates their exemplary efforts in breaking down inter-departmental barriers and cultivating a welcoming, inclusive environment. They organize celebrations for diverse traditions like Halloween, Christmas, Diwali, and Valentine's Day, while promoting teamwork and mutual respect. This social committee gets involved in the community through bi-annual clean-up events and supporting local charities. They organize seasonal activities like sledding, skating, and washer-toss tournaments in the spirit of inclusion and connectivity, enhancing workplace culture and camaraderie along the way.

Stephanie and Scott’s leadership and dedication and that of the entire social committee has created a family-like atmosphere at PEI Analytical Laboratories. Their efforts have made the laboratory a safe and supportive place where employees can be their true selves. The committee's commitment to diversity and inclusion has not only strengthened relationships, equity, diversity and inclusive best practices within our workspaces, but has also positively impacted the broader community.

Congratulations!
