2023 Premier's Leadership Award for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the Public Service

The Premier's Leadership Award for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is presented to individuals, teams or departments of the PEl Public Service who have demonstrated leadership in the promotion of equity, diversity and advancement of inclusive best practices in the workplace and in the community. First introduced in 2001, this prestigious award aims to highlight, recognize and celebrate the dedication, contribution and leadership of public service employees; their commitment to championing innovative equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives; the value and benefits of fostering bias-free workplace environments and an inclusive culture, and the significant impacts of eliminating barriers by advancing equity and fairness to create healthy and positive workplaces and stronger communities.

We are pleased to announce that this year’s award recipient is the Corporate Team of the Department of Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population! This team includes Li Feng, Maigan Hawke, Alex MacDonald, Cam Nguyen, Sandra Sunil, and Jessica Williams. Jessica, Alex, Sandra and Li joined us recently to accept the award on behalf of the team.

This corporate policy team developed and implemented various projects and initiatives, which directly contribute to a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace. The team created the 2022 Department Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy, which provides guidance and tools to ensure services are meeting the diverse needs of Islanders. This strategy is well aligned with the key objectives outlined in the PSC Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. The team initiated programs that enhance engagement and meaningful relationships with community organizations and is continuously demonstrating their commitment to uphold the Public Service Values and the PSC Diversity and Inclusion Policy.

Congratulations to the Corporate Team of the Department of Workforce, Advanced Learning and Population!
