The Employee Wellness & Safety team want to recognize individuals, teams, and committees who are making a positive safety impact in their workplace(s) by being a safety leader, in promoting and improving occupational health and safety.
Do you know someone in your workplace who:
- Actively works toward improving health and safety in their workplace,
- Demonstrates safe work practices such as wearing their PPE,
- Reports workplace hazards in a timely manner,
- Follows the safe work procedures,
- Provides input on ways to improve workplace health and safety, and
- Not only talks the safety talk, but walks the safety walk?
They may be a “Safety Star”! If there is a “Safety Star” in your workplace that you feel deserves recognition we want to hear from you!
An easy-to-use electronic form has been created for Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Committee members and safety representative to nominate a “Safety Star.” These nominations should highlight the great work being done by someone in your workplace(s).
We encourage OHS Committees to include “Safety Star” nominations as a regular agenda item in your meetings. This is a great opportunity to share and celebrate safety efforts in your workplace. Anyone in the workplace can suggest a nominee to their committee member they feel deserves recognition. The OHS committee member or safety representative can then submit the nomination using the link below.
The Employee Wellness & Safety team will review all submissions. If selected, the Employee Wellness & Safety team will contact the nominator and nominee to get permission to feature the nominee in an upcoming newsletter. Sharing these stories helps others learn from successful safety initiatives and encourages similar efforts across workplaces.
