Managing Illness and Absenteeism

A key component of the labour relations contract that the Public Service Commission has with Cox & Palmer is providing training to management staff. Civil Service Directors, Managers and Supervisors are encouraged to register for courses being offered in 2018/2019 as the information presented will be helpful to you as you navigate through labour relations and human resource matters:

Tuesday, April 30, 2019 - 8:30 a.m. – 12 noon - Murchison Centre, 17 St Pius X Ave, Charlottetown
This course focuses on managing employee illness and absenteeism. It will differentiate between the types of absenteeism (i.e. innocent and culpable), and discuss how to prevent the misuse of sick leave. The course will also provide practical advice on obtaining medical information, determining whether accommodation may be required, and managing specific types of absences (e.g. family status and mental health).

Please note, employees must request permission to attend these sessions from the person they report to in advance of registering. Following an employee’s registration, the employee will receive an email confirmation.
