Housed with the Executive Council Office, the Anti-Racism Office's (ARO) mission is to combat systemic racism by developing and implementing inclusive policies, offering training and support, and engaging with diverse communities. They lead the province's Anti-Racism Action Plan and work to ensure that all government practices are equitable and reflective of PEI's diverse population
They provide guidance on applying an anti-racism lens to policy development, offer training, and engage with various departments to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion across the province. They provide the following support, resources and guidance:
- equips employees and leaders with the tools to analyze policies for potential discriminatory impacts and foster anti-racist policy development. Additionally, the office continues to work on data collection and analysis to identify and dismantle systemic barriers.
- support supervisors in incorporating an anti-racism lens into their work
- provides resources for any initiatives or projects that require an anti-racism perspective. The office encourages all employees to utilize the tools and training provided to foster a more inclusive workplace.
- provides tools such as Anti-Racism Impact Assessment (ARIA), Standard Demographic Survey, Anti-Racism and EDI resource, Community Engagement Resource etc.
